This blog introduces the innovative tools for teaching and learning computer networking and hardware. These tools assist teachers to overcome the cost problem and space constraints in teaching networking and hardware concepts and enhance students’ participation in flexible learning activities
Computer hardware concept
A computer is electronic machines which takes row data as an input and process that data/ information into output quickly and accurately. Computer consists of the software and hardware. All computer components which are visible, we can touch it physically is the hardware of the computer. The components like input device, output device, memory, processor, CPU (Central Processing Unit) are the hardware of the computer.
Input device are normally used to enter data into CPU to process it further. Keyboard, mouse, Scanner is the common example of input device. Output device like printer and monitor are the most common output devices to display the processed information. CPU is central processing unit used to process row data into information. We can call it as heart of the computer. Memory is one of the hardware mainly used to store data and instruction which needs to process the data. RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read only Memory are the two different types of the memory.
CPU (Central Processing Unit) has two different components 1) Arithmetic and logic unit (ALU), and 2) Control unit (CU). The ALU process all arithmetic and logical operation on row data and CU are used to control all instructions and movement of all row data into the CPU internally. ALU contain a set of the registers called accumulator. Generally accumulators are used as temporary storage to hold the data that is required for arithmetic and logical operations. It is also used to hold the result of the processed data.
