With a 3.2-inch touchscreen and a 300-megapixel camera, the HTC Explorer is aimed at first-time smartphone customers and offers easy access to a variety of websites, the Taiwan-based company said in a statement.
HTC said the Android phone would be "affordable" but declined to give the product's specific price.
"HTC Explorer is an easy-to-use smartphone that puts the customer in control, providing quick access to their most important content and information," said Jason Mackenzie, HTC president of global sales and marketing.
The product will be available across key markets in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia from the fourth quarter of 2011. Earlier this year, the world's fifth-largest smartphone maker said it would focus on the Asian market in 2011 to capitalize on strong consumer demand in the region.
To back its push into emerging markets such as Indonesia and India, HTC's marketing budget for this year is the biggest in the company's history, it said.
On Sept. 13, HTC launched its first Android phone supporting the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) network as part of efforts to expand its market presence in China.
The company also rolled out the high-end Sensation XE with Beats Audio technology in Taiwan on Thursday and it plans to launch the HTC Rhyme, targeted at female users, in Taiwan next week.
